Chris Wallace Reveals Harsh Truth on Why He Walked Away from Fox News.
“Chris Wallace” a veteran anchor and political reporter with over 50 years in the news industry, has witnessed significant changes in the media landscape. Throughout his career, he has held prestigious positions at major networks like ABC, NBC, and Fox News. In 2021, after nearly two decades as the anchor of Fox News Sunday, Wallace left the network to join its competitor, CNN.
During an interview on Mediaite’s Press Club, “Chris Wallace” discussed his departure from Fox News. He explained that while he had no issue with either conservative or liberal viewpoints, he could not tolerate the spread of conspiracy theories and falsehoods. “The truth is non-negotiable,” he told Mediaite’s editor-in-chief, Aidan McLaughlin.
Wallace reflected on how Fox News promoted Donald Trump’s unfounded claims of a stolen election, which fueled the January 6th Capitol riot. These claims also led to Fox’s $787.5 million settlement with Dominion, a voting technology company that was falsely implicated.
“I’m glad to see someone is being held accountable for distorting the truth,” Wallace said in reference to the settlement.
Now hosting two shows on CNN, Wallace has also released a new book, Countdown 1960: The Behind-the-Scenes Story of the 312 Days that Changed America’s Politics Forever.
The book covers the 1960 presidential race between John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon, highlighting how Nixon, despite credible claims of voter fraud and a razor-thin margin, chose not to challenge the results.
“Trump has done something unprecedented by contesting the election,” Wallace remarked. “Here’s a case where an election may have truly been stolen, yet the loser decided not to challenge it for the sake of the country.”
Wallace also touched on his career journey, the future of CNN, and his insights on the upcoming presidential debates, having moderated two himself.
